I am honoured to be composing music for KickingTire’s upcoming short film, entitled: ‘The 12th’. This suspenseful thriller has been a ton of fun to work on, and a great learning experience. Thanks to Patrick Hodgson for asking me to be involved in this project. The film will be premiering in May 2017 at the Revue Cinema! More updates to follow.

I’m really pumped to be taking part in the great Opera from Scratch residency in Halifax this year, running from August 20th-29th. An opera I’ve written about the Canadian WW2 Heroine, Mona Parsons, will be performed by solo soprano, piano, and live electronics.

Very exciting news! Chopin’s Heart, will be part of the 6th edition of Telefilm’s “Not Short on Talent” at Cannes 2016. Not Short on Talent is a curated showcase of 36 new Canadian short films at the Marché du Film that runs parallel to the Cannes Film Festival in May. I wrote the score for this incredible short film, and am so proud of its continuing success!

I had the wonderful opportunity to compose my very first opera at the UofT, alongside fellow composers, Patrick McGraw, and Robert Taylor. Set in a dystopian world, the opera ‘The Machine Stops’ imagines a future where technology has taken over, and humanity worships it at their peril. Based on E.M. Forester’s famous short story, The Machine Stops premieres at 7 p.m. on January 24th in McMillan Theatre at the UofT. I could not be more excited! Expect a recording and video footage to be posted as soon as I have it.

I had the amazing opportunity to record an orchestral piece of mine through the Screen Composers Guild of Canada Orchestral Reading Session. The piece was a scored cue to a martial arts film, and I am so excited to share it with you!

James McLellan’s exciting action film released in early 2014 has been selected as one of Manitoba’s entries into the CBC Short Film Face Off due to air on CBC Television in Fall 2015. The competition chooses one film from each province (two from Manitoba) to face off on a reality show and be voted Canada’s best Short Film by Canadian viewers. I was fortunate enough to compose the score to this great film, and I am really looking forward to seeing how it fares on the show. More details regarding airing dates to follow!
